An East Elm Street man who allegedly followed a woman home from the Spence Avenue Wal-Mart and robbed her at gunpoint is in custody, authorities say.
David James Porter Jr., 18, faced a robbery with a dangerous weapon charge for the July 12 incident, in which a 20-year-old Eureka area woman said she was accosted.
Authorities began looking for a man who reportedly wore a bright orange bandanna covering his face.
During the July 12 incident, the victims exited their vehicle at their Herman Lane Road residence and Porter allegedly ran from a nearby field with a gun.
He demanded money, took it, then ordered the 20-year-old to go back inside the residence, then fired a shot from his weapon at no one, authorities said.
Detectives questioned Porter Jr. on July 23 after transporting him from his East Elm Street home to the Sheriff's Office.
Late on Thursday, Detective Sgt. Rick Winders said he was searching for the suspect in the case.
By Friday, authorities released information that Porter had been apprehended by Detective Lt. Carl Lancaster.
Porter was initially jailed under a $50,000 bond, authorities said.
