MOUNT OLIVE -- A man was assaulted Sunday in a popular Mount Olive park, according to the Mount Olive Police Department.
Raul Romero Madrigal Jr., 25, of Pine View Cemetery Road in Mount Olive was reportedly attacked in Westbrook Park around 4:45 p.m. Sunday afternoon, police said.
Madrigal Jr. sustained injuries requiring medical care, according to Det. Sgt. CJ Weaver of the Mount Olive Police Department.
"From what we're gathering, there was a crowbar and brass knuckles," Weaver said.
There were several witnesses to the incident, according to police. The attack appears to involve a domestic dispute, but the investigation into the incident is ongoing, Weaver said.
Madrigal Jr. was trans- ported to Wayne Memorial Hospital for treatment. He was released from the hospital Sunday night after receiving treatment for his injuries, which required stitches and staples.
Warrants were pending Monday for the arrest of Eleazar Cardenas, 25, of Star Point Drive in Mount Olive, Juan Manuel Cadenas, 27, of CG Circle in Dudley and Maria Guadalupe Herrera, 42, of Kinsey Mill Road in Mount Olive in connection with the attack.
The warrants listed charges of assault with a deadly weapon and communicating threats.
