LaGRANGE -- The manager of the Bojangles restaurant on U.S. 70 in LaGrange was found shot to death early today by deputies with the Lenoir County Sheriff's Department.
Lenoir County Sheriff Billy Smith said this morning that the initial emergency call came in about 11:45 p.m. Thursday. A friend of the victim made the call after discovering Kenneth Leefe in his vehicle in the restaurant parking lot.
The initial call was for an unresponsive person, Smith said.
The sheriff said responding officers found Leefe slumped over the steering wheel. He said Leefe had been shot at least once but had no further details. Officers were still at the scene.
Smith said investigators were interviewing employees of the restaurant this morning in search of a possible motive for the shooting. The restaurant was closed at the time of the shooting, he noted.
The Lenoir Sheriff's Office has handled law enforcement in the town of LaGrange since the town disbanded its police force in 2009.
