Resident foils break-in

A homeowner foiled a break-in at home Monday, with the intruder winding up arrested by Goldsboro police.
A resident of East Pine Street reportedly interrupted an attempted breaking and entering at his property Monday at about 10:30 a.m. and called the police.
Goldsboro Police Officer Richard Nash was the first to respond to the call. Nash obtained a description of a vehicle possibly involved with the attempted breaking and entering. Officers Dave Wilson and Logan Cox spotted a vehicle matching the description and stopped the driver.
The victim identified a subject who was inside the vehicle and he was taken into custody.
Christmas Whitfield, 20, of East New Hope Road in Goldsboro was charged with attempting to break or enter a building. He was taken to Wayne County Jail and held under a $5,000 secured bond.
There were no injuries reported.
