Attempted robbery
Samuel Cox Jr., 67, an employee at Goldsboro Internet World on North Berkeley Boulevard, told Goldsboro police that three men tried to gain access to the business after it had closed. One of the men had a firearm, Cox said. Cox said he refused to open the door and the men left.
City thefts
*Larry Harrell, Bulluck School Road, Rocky Mount, reported to Goldsboro police the theft of a $1,700 laptop computer and $160 GPS from his vehicle. Damages totaled $150 to the front passenger window.
*Erica Lopez-Gonzalez, Jimmy Drive, Seven Springs, reported the theft of CDs valued at $300 and DVDs valued at $500 from her vehicle.
*Rodger Giasson, Sparwood Drive reported the theft of a $500 riding mower.
County thefts
*Sarah Lane, Old Grantham Road, reported to Wayne County Sheriff's deputies the theft of a 37-inch flat-screen high definition television valued at $750 and a 32-inch flat-screen high definition television valued at $592. Damages totaled $300 to a rear window.
*Danntione Marshburn, Dell Drive, Dudley, reported to Wayne County Sheriff's deputies the theft of a SKS rifle valued at $300. Damages totaled $300 to the house.
*Yolanda Shatomax Newkirk, Dell Drive, Dudley, reported to Wayne County Sheriff's deputies the theft of a PlayStation 2 valued at $200, a $30 game controller and eight PlayStation 2 games valued at $320. Damages totaled $500 to a door and door frame.
*Terri Thomas McKay, Birchwood Drive, Mount Olive, reported to to Wayne County Sheriff's deputies someone had taken two portable seven-inch DVD players valued at $300 and a $200 Nintendo DS game system from a vehicle. Damages totaled $200 to the back passenger window.
*Nine assorted firearms were reported stolen following at break-in at the home of Ernie Ray Smith, Gay Smith Road, LaGrange. Reported stolen to Wayne County Sheriff's deputies were four 12-gauge shotguns valued at $3,200; a .22-caliber rifle valued at $2,000; a lever action 22-caliber rifle valued at $300; a $500 30-30 lever action rifle; an $800 30-06 rifle; and a $50 BB gun. Damages totaled $300 to a front door and $100 to a bedroom door.
*Shakima Marie Newkirk, Potts Road, reported to Wayne County Sheriff's deputies the theft of a Wii game console valued at $380 and six Wii games valued at $190.
*Larry Brantley Howard, North John Street, reported to Wayne County Sheriff's deputies the theft of a laptop computer valued at $800.
*Kenneth Earl House, May Road, LaGrange, reported to Wayne County Sheriff's deputies the theft of several item from a shed. The items taken and their values were a radar detector, $350; GPS, $150; air blower, $400; weed trimmer, $350.
*Several items were taken during a break-in at the home of Aaron Byrd, 57, Sleepy Creek Road, Dudley, according to Wayne County Sheriff's deputies. The items taken and their values were laptop computer, $1,100; semi-automatic rifle, $250; 410 shotgun, $300; 12-gauge shotgun, $300; and $1,000 in cash. Damages totaled $1,000 to the front door.
*Wayne County Sheriff's deputies recovered a $900 pressure washer taken during a break-in at the home of Nicholas Brandon Diamond, 23, Old Grantham Road. Other items taken, but not yet recovered, were a power saw, $150 and a drill and two batteries, $100.
*A thief or thieves took $585 in assorted jewelry and a $70 PlayStation game from the home of Kristie Nicole Crabtree, Carla Ann Drive, Pikeville, according to Wayne County Sheriff's deputies.
*Two flat-screen televisions were taken in a break-in at the home of Quentin White, 30, Pearsall Lane, Dudley, according to Wayne County Sheriff's deputies. Taken were an $800 42-inch television and a $250 22-inch set. Damages totaled $300 to the front door and $30 to a bedroom doorknob.
*Sylvia Jean Carter, 63, Herring Road, Dudley, reported to Wayne County Sheriff's deputies the theft of an $800 laptop computer and a $400 DVD/VRC combo. Damages totaled $1,500 to a window.
*Carl Owen Benton, 72, U.S. 117 North, Fremont, reported to Wayne County Sheriff's deputies the theft of a motorcycle valued at $1,357.
*Corin Marie Lewis Smith, 32, Albert Drive, reported to Wayne County Sheriff's deputies the theft of an Xbox game console valued at $300, a Rock Band game set valued at $200 and Xbox games valued at $400. Damages totaled $400 to a door frame.
*Vera Cox Sutton, 41, Nancy Drive, Dudley, reported to Wayne County Sheriff's deputies the theft of a speaker box and two 12-inch speakers valued at $400, a 900-watt amp valued at $500 and approximately 100m CD's valued at $400.
