Lightning struck Southern Wayne High School late Sunday night during a storm that blew through Wayne County.
Damages were confined to one of the modular units, as well as the WISH Center, the school-based health center, said Ken Derksen, public information officer for Wayne County Public Schools.
Derksen said lightning struck a tree next to the trailer, which is primarily used for a choral class. Electrical wiring was affected, as well as thermostats and computers, and some damage was reported to the trailer floor.
"Repairs are already being made," Derksen said Tuesday. "Students were put in another location while the repairs were being done and are expected to be back in the classroom after spring break."
Schools across the county will not be in session on Friday, with Easter and spring break to be observed next week. Classes will resume on Monday, April 12.
