Wayne County firemen will be out Saturday at the Wal-Marts on Spence Avenue and U.S. 70, seeking donations for their annual Fill the Boot campaign.
The annual drive is designed to raise money for the victims of muscular dystrophy.
Firefighters have been working to help find a cure for the debilitating disease for 56 years and urge Wayne County residents to donate when they see the firemen, fire trucks and flashing red lights.
Last year, the campaign raised more than $28 million for the cause. The firemen are the No. 1 financial support for the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
Participating firefighters include members of the Goldsboro City Fire Department, Eastern Carolina F.O.O.L.S., the El-Roy Volunteer Fire Dept. and the Rosewood Volunteer Fire Dept.
Money raised will be used to help local families who have a member suffering from the disease. For information, contact any member of the above firefighting units.
