WCC offering continuing education classes this spring

Wayne Community College is offering several courses through its continuing education program this spring -- including quilting, flower arranging, golf, photography, stained glass, dog obedience, sewing and landscape painting.
"Beginning Quilting" provides students with steps to design their own wall hanging or table topper. Two time slots are available: 3:30-5:30 p.m. or 6-8 p.m. on Mondays, March 15 through May 10. It will be taught in Room 104 of the Walnut Building.
"Flower Arranging" teaches the craft of designing flower arrangement, bows, centerpieces and more. Classes will be held on Mondays, March 22-May 3, 6-9 p.m. in Room 136 of the Walnut Building.
"Golf for Beginners" will be held Mondays, March 15 through May 10. It will teach basic skills, knowledge and appreciation to play golf at the beginner's level and the history of golf.
An "Intermediate Golf" course, designed for students who have successfully completed the beginner's course or for anyone who has successfully played golf before, will be offered Tuesdays, March 16 through May 11. Time and location for both is 6-8 p.m. in Room 104 of the Walnut Building.
A photography course that teaches color, composition, perspective, flash and how to select the best camera will be taught 7-9 p.m. on Tuesdays, March 16 through May 4. The class will meet in Room 212 of the Wayne Learning Center.
Students can learn the art of stained glass and how to foil, as well as solder and finishing techniques. The stained glass class will be held 6-8 p.m. on Tuesdays, March 16 through May 4 in Room 206 of the Dogwood Building.
"Dog Obedience" teaches dogs to heel, sit and stay and other techniques, all culminating in a graduation. The course is set for 6:30-7:30 p.m. on Thursdays, March 18 through April 29 in the parking lot of the Cedar Building.
"Basic Sewing" is scheduled for 6-9 p.m. on Thursdays, March 18 through May 13 in Room 104 of the Walnut Building. The class teaches skills such as reading patterns, fabric selection and the basic use of the sewing machine.
Proper use of Bob Ross paints, brushes and the technique involved with completing a landscape or seascape painting are the subjects of the "Painting Bob Ross Landscapes" course. Class will be held 4-7 p.m. on Thursdays, March 18 through May 6 in Room 206 of the Dogwood Building.
Cost is $35 for the flower arranging, quilting, photography, stained glass, sewing, and painting courses and $50 for the golf, dog obedience classes. To guarantee a seat, students should register in advance at the Continuing Education Division's customer service desk in the Walnut Building. If there is still room, students may register at the first class session.
