Lee-Jackson Banquet Jan. 16

The Sons of Confederate Veterans will hold its annual Lee-Jackson Banquet Jan. 16 to honor the memory of famed Confederate generals, Robert E. Lee and Thomas "Stonewall" Jackson.
The event, to be held at the Steak Barn on U.S. 70 West, starting at 6 p.,m., and is being sponsored by the Goldsboro Rifles Camp, The Dr. B. T. Person Camp, the Pettigrew's Partisan Rangers and the Smithfield Light Infantry Camp.
Many men from eastern North Carolina served under the two military leaders in the Virginia theater of war.
The coming year marks Lee's 202nd birthday and Jackson's 185th.
The program will be provided by Stan Clardy, who will relate "The Stories Behind the Songs."
You do not have to be a member of the SCV to attend. The public is invited.
