MORNING ACCIDENT: Traffic was backed up and power was cut to about 1,700 customers in the Rosewood area this morning when a car struck a utility pole off U.S. 70 west of Goldsboro shortly after 6 a.m. Progress Energy officials said power was restored to between 400 and 500 customers within a half hour and most had been restored by 8 a.m. All lost power should be back on by noon, they said. Details on the accident were not available by press time.
