Johnston animal shelter holding open house

SMITHFIELD -- Johnston County Animal Services will hold an open house on Saturday from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. at the Pet Adoption Center at 115 Shelter Way in Smithfield.
The public is invited. Tours will be given and a pet adoption will be held.
Those who bring a bag of kitty litter, laundry detergent, bleach or dog and cat treats will receive a free "Paw-B-Que" sandwich provided by Parker's BBQ.
There will be pet vendors on hand, along with a representative of the state Wildlife Resources Commission.
Also, there will be veterinarians to answer questions, a dog wash by the Johnston County Animal Protection League for a $7 donation (second dog $5), rabies shots available for $5, a horse display by the U.S. Equine Rescue League and music and games.
