Register of Deeds fees going up

Beginning Tuesday, fees are increasing at the Wayne County Register of Deeds.
On Tuesday, the fee for a marriage license will increase from $50 to $60.
Then on Oct. 1, the fee for recording a deed will increase. The first page will increase from $14 to $19, with all other pages remaining at $3.
Also on Oct. 1, the fee for recording deeds of trust will increase. The first page will increase from $24 to $30, with all other pages remaining at $3.
There will not be a fee increase for certified copies of vital records on the local level. The certified copies of birth, death and marriage certificates will remain at $10 each. The fee increase for vital records that was recently announced only involves records received from the State Office of Vital Records -- not the county where the event actually occurred.
