Wayne County residents are being encouraged to wear their Relay for Life T-shirts on Friday for the event's annual T-shirt day.
With a little help from Goldsboro Mayor Al King, Relay for Life organizers will be raising awareness Friday about their annual event.
King, via proclamation, has endorsed trading in typical work clothes for Relay T-shirts tomorrow -- a move officials hope will show just how many Wayne County residents have been affected by cancer, Relay board member Debbie Pennell said.
Thousands of dollars have already been raised this year through fundraisers and purple bow sales conducted by members of teams attending the annual event, scheduled for May 29 and 30 at Wayne Community College.
Last year, Relay raised more than $700,000.
So expect to see plenty of T-shirts at offices across Goldsboro Friday -- even City Hall.
