Goldsboro police are investigating the death of a North John Street man, a death in which causes are unknown, records show.
Gerald Anthony King, 34, was found dead at his home at 920 N. John St., after Garland King of North Hills Drive, New Bern reported the death.
Goldsboro Police Investigator Dwayne E. Dean decline to comment further than a press release he issued early today.
The news release said King is being sent to a state Medical Examiner facility in Greenville.
"The investigation of this matter is ongoing," Dean says in the release.
Dean refused to answer a reporter's question about whether anyone was with King when he died, saying that he had been instructed to release only a brief statement about the investigation.
According to the police report, King's body was found by police around 2:50 p.m. on Thursday, after the New Bern relative, King, 51, reported the death.
In other news, a fire in the Lincoln Homes Apartments evacuated a number of people from the public housing complex.
A kitchen fire about 3:30 a.m. was caused by unattended cooking, firefighters said.
Damages to the building were about $25,000, with $4,000 in damages to contents.
