Through the help of a federal program, Wayne County Services on Aging is offering help to Medicare beneficiaries who still need assistance paying for their prescription drugs.
Beneficiaries may be eligible for the federal Extra Help low-income subsidy program if they have limited income and resources.
The Extra Help program can help pay for all or part of their monthly premiums and annual deductibles, as well as provide lower prescription co-payments under a Medicare prescription drug plan.
To qualify for Extra Help, annual income must be limited to $15,600 for an individual or $21,000 for a married couple living together.
Additionally, the total resources must be limited to $12,510 for an individual or $25,010 for a married couple living together. Such resources do not include a primary residence or a vehicle.
People who may qualify can apply online at www.socialsecurity.gov, or calling the Wayne County Senior Center at 731-1675 and asking for Yvonne McLamb, who can assist with completing application process.
