Angels will fly in 2009

The Blue Angels have been confirmed as one of the acts for the 2009 Wings Over Wayne air show, Seymour Johnson Air Force Base officials announced Tuesday.
It's official -- the Navy's premier flight demonstration team is coming back to Wayne County.
The 4th Fighter Wing confirmed Tuesday that the Blue Angels have been named a headliner for the 2009 Wings Over Wayne air show.
The two-day event, scheduled for the weekend of April 25, will also feature the Army's Golden Knights parachute team.
The show will come just less than two years after the last one, which drew a record 100,000-plus and brought millions into city and county coffers.
The Blue Angels took to the skies then, too -- generating plenty of excitement from the youngest and oldest show-goers.
Wings Over Wayne started as an open house, a way to give the public a sense of what life on a military base is like.
The 2008 show was cancelled, in part because of the success of the 2007 installment.
The Blue Angels are stationed at Forrest Sherman Field, Naval Air Station Pensacola, Fla., during the show season. The Golden Knights parachute team is celebrating its 50th anniversary in performing at air shows and competitions around the world.
The event is open to the public and admission is free.
