Another RV Care-A-Vanner team is expected to arrive in Goldsboro Sunday for two-weeks of building houses for Habitat for Humanity of Goldsboro-Wayne, and lunches are going to be needed for 12 volunteers from Oct. 13 through 25.
Habitat officials say the Care-A-Vanner teams have been coming for five years now. The experienced house builders on the teams normally involve six to 20 volunteers. Their builds usually last a couple of weeks. They usually work 10 days for six or seven hours a day.
A typical day begins with devotions and includes morning, lunch and afternoon breaks.
The team often works with local volunteers and future homeowners.
To provide lunches for the Care-A-Vanners, churches, businesses, restaurants, civic groups and individuals can call the Habitat office at 736-9592.
Since organizing in November of 2001, the local Habitat affiliate has partnered with 32 qualified families and the community to build decent, affordable houses.
