Box cutter stabbing
Police said Melvin Covington of South Slocumb Street refused to name an aquaintance who allegedly stabbed him with a box cutter knife Tuesday morning at a home in the 100 block of Best Avenue, police said. The attack caused severe lacerations, a police report shows. The incident occurred around 3 a.m. on Tuesday, causing Covington to make a trip to the Wayne Memorial Hospital, the report states. Covington signed a non-prosecution form, preventing further investigation, according to the report.
Purse snatching
Lisa White of Goldsboro reported that a white male, about 6 feet tall, 200 pounds with a medium build and straight, shoulder-length blonde hair, snatched her purse at the Herman Park Gazebo Tuesday evening, police said. Miss White's right arm and right hand suffered minor injury in the reported purse snatching, and she was treated and released from Wayne Memorial Hospital, according to a police report. The white male was wearing a blue UNC-Chapel Hill ball cap, a red sleeveless shirt and long baggy blue jeans, the report states. The suspect got away by running north on Jackson Street, according to the report.
