FAISON -- Local artist Heather Williams will unveil her painting for the Fifth Annual Market Day Festival on Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Southern Exposure restaurant in Faison.
The painting is the third in a series, depicting the Faison Produce Market in 1922. She used several old photographs from residents to capture the heyday of the market, with men bidding on produce, and waiting horses and carts at the corner of West Main and Center Streets.
The original painting, which will be on display at the Muscadine Festival and then back at Southern Exposure restaurant, will be sold in a live auction at the Market Day Celebration on Saturday, Oct. 11.
A limited number of unframed signed prints from the painting will be available at the unveiling for purchase with the proceeds funding FIG projects benefiting the Town of Faison.
The remaining prints will be available for purchase on Market Day
