The price of gasoline in and around Wayne County continued to rise today at most fuel stations, after suppliers suddenly announced the wholesale price would jump overnight.
Prices at the pump had dropped to around the $3.50 range for the past couple of months but shot up dramatically Thursday evening, leading to lines at many stations.
Fault is being placed on Hurricane Ike, which is threatening oil refineries along the Gulf Coast and the suppy of fuel they provide to much of this part of the country.
