DUDLEY -- A physical fight between two men led to a gunshot wound after one of the men returned with a gun, the Sheriff's Office reported last week.
David Demarlo Thompson, 26, Beartrap Road, Dudley, has been charged in the Aug. 7 incident after shooting Jesse Arthur Pearsall in the left knee, Capt. Tom Effler said.
"They had a fight over something else," Effler said. "It was a physical fight to start with and he (Thompson) left and came back with a gun."
The original fight was "not that severe," Effler said.
The Sheriff's Office does not know for certain where the original fight took place, the captain said, but the confrontation occurred somewhere in the area of Durham Lake Road.
Thompson was jailed under $1,200 bond after investigation by Detective Sgt. Robert Chunn, according to a department press release.
The Beartrap Road man was charged with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury, the Sheriff's Office said. The charge is a Class E felony, according to state law, punishable by a maximum of 20-to-25 months in prison.
