A Goldsboro police detective says an East Ash Street man accused of stealing a dog from a veterinary clinic is in custody.
Police charged Matthew Lee Johnson, 24, East Ash Street, with possessing stolen goods, larceny of a dog, breaking and entering, larceny after breaking or entering, driving without insurance, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
A doctor at the clinic said the dog, a chihuahua, was a patient.
Johnson also had four other active warrants not described in the police report.
Police allege Johnson broke into Eastwaye Veterinary Clinic in the 4000 block of U.S. 70 in the city.
In a traffic stop, police arrested Johnson on Sunday without incident, according to a news release and his arrest report.
A doctor at the clinic said the break-in had caused no operational difficulties.
A magistrate set an $11,000 bond for Johnson, police said in a release.
