A Dudley man will face charges of first-degree rape of a child after taking a 12-year-old from her home, authorities say.
Brigido Santos Hernandez, 19, Jake Drive, Dudley was jailed in lieu of $250,000 bond for an incident first reported Thursday at 11:30 p.m., Wayne County Sheriff's Office Detective Sgt. Rick Farfour said.
Family members initially contacted the Sheriff's Office to say their 12-year-old daughter was missing from their Dudley area home.
Later, authorities found out that the 12-year-old was actually in the company of Hernandez, who later brought the teen back to the home.
Authorities said the girl was not taken from the home by force, but under the law, a 12-year-old cannot give consent to an adult for sexual relations.
Farfour said he received a call to come to the Dudley girl's home around 1:30 a.m., after the family reported the man had come to the home.
"When the deputy took the report, he left, they (the family) called back and said she's come back and he (Hernandez) was there," he said.
Farfour said the family kept Hernandez at the home until he arrived.
