The WAGES Wayne County First Steps program has been awarded a three-year grant from the Duke Endowment for services and programming.
The amount averages to more than $100,000 a year for the next three years, said Dr. David Tayloe, chairman of the Wayne County First Steps Consortium. The funding will allow for more families to be served, he said.
"During the first 10 years of WCFS, funding has been limited such that many at-risk families could not be enrolled in the program," he said.
First Steps is a child abuse prevention program operated by WAGES. Established in 1996, it is a voluntary family support and home visiting program.
