Local, state and federal government offices will be closed Wednesday in observance of Independence Day.
The holiday won't halt public transportation, although buses will run on a shorter schedule. The Goldsboro-Wayne Transportation Authority announced its buses will run Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until 6:30 p.m., rather than the normal 5:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. schedule
The Wednesday closings include the Wayne County landfill and recycling centers across the county. Waste Industries will be closed Wednesday and its trash collections will be delayed by one day, with Wednesday collections being made on Thursday. Friday's trash collection will be back on its normal schedule. Customers are reminded that the one-day change means they will need to pull carts to the curbside the night before they normally do.
The holiday will not affect the garbage collection schedules for the city of Goldsboro and in the town of Mount Olive, where Wednesday is the only weekday that solid waste is not normally picked up.
