Antique rifles
stolen
Someone broke into a Wayne County man's home on Miller's Chapel Road Tuesday and stole three antique rifles, and the Wayne County Sheriff's Office is asking for the public's help.
Max Best told deputies that someone broke into his home in the 1100 block of Miller's Chapel Road sometime in the afternoon and stole two 1849 Springfield muskets with bayonets attached and an 8mm Mauser rifle. The value of the stolen items could not be determined, officials said.
Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Sgt. Mike Reid or Deputy Larry Mitchell at 731-1007 or Goldsboro-Wayne Crime Stoppers at 735-2255.
Break-ins
*Bhulabhai Patel reported someone broke into his motel room at 801 Hwy. 70 East Bypass Tuesday and stole his two suitcases, a 24-karat gold necklace, three watches, his passport to India, clothes and other items, all valued at $830.
*Someone broke into a storage shed owned by First Presbyterian Church at 901 Westview Court and stole a lawnmower, hedge clippers, leaf blower and three weed trimmers, all valued at $1,840. Someone also broke into a storage shed at church at 1101 E. Ash St. and stole three hedge trimmers, a chainsaw and other tools, all valued at $705.
*Joanne Roberts reported someone broke into her home in the 2900 block of Mclain Street and stole a diamond ring, a jewelry chest and other items, all valued at $1,145.
*Ryan Daniel Ginn reported someone broke into his 1992 Honda Accord while parked in the 1700 block of River Circle and stole 200 CDs, all valued at $2,000.
*Douglas Eugene McGrath reported someone broke into his 1996 Honda Accord while parked in the 100 block of Tenth Place and stole an IPOD, IPOD adapter, cell phone and other items, all valued at $825.
*Someone broke into a 2002 Ford Taurus owned by Kinston Office Supply co. while parked in the 1700 block of River Circle and stole an XM Radio, his wallet which contained credit cards and money and a cell phone, all valued at $725.
*Someone broke the window at Gospel Tabernacle Church, 1015 N. James St. Damage was set at $100. No items were reported missing, according to the Goldsboro police report.
Vandalism
Someone stuck an ice pick through the air conditioner at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home on U.S. 117 South and caused $6,000 in damage, according to the Wayne County Sheriff's Office.
Accidents
*Passenger Simone Washington, 17, of East Walnut Street, was injured in a two-vehicle accident Monday on Madison Avenue and Beech Street. A vehicle driven by Ronald Douglas Wester, 58, of Faison Avenue, was involved in an accident with a pickup driven by Arthur Lee Artis at 2:43 p.m. Artis' passenger, Ms. Washington, was taken to Wayne Memorial Hospital for treatment, where she was treated and released. Damage to the vehicles were set at $2,700. No citations were issued.
*Two people were injured Monday in a two-vehicle accident on U.S. 117 South and Elm Street. Ricky Allan Teel Jr., 19, of N.C. 33 East, Tarboro, was cited for a red-light violation after a tractor-trailer he was driving was involved in an accident with a car driven by oyce Bean Delano of Saulston Road. Both drivers were treated and released at Wayne Memorial Hospital. Teel was cited for a red light violation. Damages were set at $4,400.
