The town of Pikeville is gearing up for its Chocolate Festival, "Life is Sweet," which will be held on Saturday from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. at Charles B. Aycock High School to raise money for the Relay for Life.
For a $5 admission, people can enjoy all of the sweet treats, which include any cookies, cakes or pies, entered for the festival.
Others can bring in their own entries free of charge. Organizers ask that anyone bringing in an entry bring in two identical treats to the event. One will be tasted by the judges and the other will be sold during a silent auction later in the day.
People are also encouraged to bring the recipes along with the final product. Any recipes will be sold for additional proceeds.
The festival will also feature a blood drive in honor of the late Jody Davis, from 10 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. Organizers are hoping that at least 75 people will donate.
For information about the festival or the blood drive, call 242-5126 or 242-9620.
