Goldsboro police are hunting for four suspects who robbed Bob's Convenient Mart on South Slocumb Street and then exchanged gunfire with the shopkeeper as they dashed from the business Tuesday.
Mohssen Ali Almogaded, 38, was inside the store at 1717 S. Slocumb St., at about 6:45 p.m. when four men entered, one wielding a shotgun. They approached the store clerk and demanded money, police said.
After grabbing $300 cash from the register, 30 packs of Newport cigarettes and a fist full of lottery tickets, the robbers ran out. As they ran away, one of the suspects fired one shot. The shopkeeper grabbed his own handgun and fired back, but no one was hurt.
The robbers ran from the store on foot, heading east.
Anyone with information about this crime is asked to call Goldsboro police Investigator Dale Foster at 580-4217 or Goldsboro-Wayne County Crime Stoppers at 735-2255. All callers remain anonymous and may be eligible for a cash reward of up to $1,000 if their information leads to a felony arrest.
