The Hispanic Community Development Center is signing up non-profit organizations and business information booths, arts and craft vendors, bands and Hispanic Traditional dancers for its annual Cinco de Mayo. Deadline for sign ups is April 1.
It will be held on May 5 from noon to 5 p.m. in the Waynesborough Historical Village, 801 S. 117 by-pass, Goldsboro. In conjunction with the festival, the center will also host its third annual Health and Information Fair.
One of the organizers, Ana Cruz, said these two events combined are expected to attract 1,000 participants.
"The people of Wayne County were enlightened to see the different Hispanic countries being represented in our Parade of Hispanic Nations," she said. "Last year's event had nine of the 21 countries represented. This year we are seeking more participants for the parade."
She said they will all be wearing their authentic native costumes to represent their country of origin.
The event will feature live Latin music all day, lots of food, children games, grown-up games, dance performances, information fairs in English and in Spanish and the health screening booths.
For information or to volunteer call Willie Cartagena at 738-0604, his wife, Tammy, at 222-2650, or email Mrs. Cruz at [email protected].
