Investigations
Wayne County sheriff's deputies are investigating these reports:
*Someone passed a fake $100 bill Saturday at Short Stop on U.S. 117.
*William Aswalbo Argueta reported he was cut on the left forearm while trying to break up a fight between two men Christmas Day on Deermeadow Drive. Argueta declined hospital care.
*Eusebio Gonzalez and Juan-Diego Gonzalez reported Dec. 24 that three men robbed them at gunpoint at a trailer park on Smith Trailer Park Drive in Dudley. The robbers took a leather wallet containing $2,500 and a Mexican ID.
*Amado Rosales reported Dec. 23 that a man he knew cut him on the arm with a kitchen knife during an argument over a pair of socks on Charlie Braswell Road. Rosales was taken to Wayne Memorial Hospital for nonlife threatening injuries. The suspect denied the allegations and alleged Rosales tried to cut him with a knife. The suspect also told officials Rosales allegedly was hurt during a scuffle.
*Someone shot the windows out of two vehicles parked at Budget Truck Rental at 186 Belfast Road on Dec. 23 and caused $500 damage to a Chevy Silverado pickup and $1,000 damage to a Freightliner truck.
*Someone shot BBs into a home in the 100 block of Radford Drive and damaged the pool, aquarium, windows and vinyl siding on Christmas Eve. Damage was set at $2,000. Someone also shot the lights out of the driveway entrance at a home in the 100 block of East April Lane. Damage was set at $375.
*Eric Richard Scott Jr., 17, of Hood Swamp Road, was injured Dec. 26 when a rifle bullet ricocheted off of a tree and struck him in the back of the head. Sheriff's officials said Scott's cousin shot at a squirrel, but missed. The bullet struck a tree, and later struck Scott. Scott was treated for minor injuries at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
Goldsboro police are investigating these reports:
*Someone broke into Family Dollar on U.S. 111 South and stole $100 from the safe Dec. 25. Total damage was $1,500.
*Goldsboro police charged a Goldsboro man in connection with a break-in at two businesses. Joel Allen Register, 26, of Old Grantham Road, was arrested by Officer Sgt. G.N. Lynch and charged with breaking and entering. The charge stems from allegations Register broke into Retro Lube and Jiffy Lube in May. Register was being held at the Wayne County Jail under $10,000 bond.
