Rabies clinics to be held Saturday

People that missed the chance to get their pet a rabies vaccination last week have another chance Saturday to get one for $5.
The Wayne County Rabies Clinic is sponsored by the county's Animal Control Department. The owner of dog and cats older than four months are required have their animal vaccinated against rabies.
In January, two cases of rabies were reported in Wayne County. One of the rabid animals infected three county residents before it was quarantined.
On Saturday, a clinic will be held at Grantham Elementary School from 8:30-10:30 a.m. From 1-3 p.m., a clinic will be held at the old Pikeville School building on School Street.
Any animal that receives its first rabies vaccination will need to receive another dose next year. Thereafter, the animal need a vaccination every three years thereafter. Owners need to bring proof of a prior vaccination to get a three-year shot. For more information people can call the Animal Control office at 731-1439.
