Progress Energy officials said about 7,000 residents in the New Hope, Central Heights and Miller's Chapel Road areas of Goldsboro would experience a brief power outage Monday morning about 4 a.m.
The outage will last from 30 second to a minute and will be caused by the need to perform equipment maintenance at the New Hope substation.
Company officials said they regret any inconvenience caused by the outage and residents are warned to be prepared for alarm clocks that fail to go off as set.
