Student art on exhibit at Berkeley Mall

The center corridor of Berkeley Mall will be converted into an art gallery this week to showcase work from hundreds of Wayne Countys top art students.
The annual Wayne County Public Schools art exhibition is scheduled for March 12-18. Students from kindergarten through the 12th grade in each of the county's 31 public schools will display more than 1,100 exhibits in a variety of art forms.
"The art work will come from the most promising and creative art students in the county. Several of our young artists have won local, state and national awards," said Hope Meyerhoeffer, the school system's Director of Visual Arts. "We invite everyone to come out and see how innovative and talented our students are in the world of art expression."
Dr. Steven Taylor, Superintendent of the Wayne County Public Schools, said that art is an important part of a school's curriculum, commending students and teachers for making the mall art exhibit an annual success.
"This event is an opportunity for the school district to showcase the exceptional skills and abilities of our students in the area of art as well as reflect the excellent instruction provided by our art teachers," Dr. Taylor said.
