Two hurt in wreck
Two people were injured, two vehicles were destroyed and damages were estimated at $12,000 in three recent traffic collisions in Wayne County, the Highway Patrol reported.
*A car was demolished in a wreck at 11:50 a.m. Wednesday on N.C. 111 near St. John Church Road, the Highway Patrol said. The report said the northbound car had run off the right side and overturned. The driver, Lorenda Mae Brogden, 18, of Pecan Road, Dudley, was neither injured nor charged. The car was valued at $4,000.
*Two people were injured in a one-vehicle wreck at 2:55 a.m. Sunday on U.S. 117 near Owens Farm Road, the Highway Patrol said. The driver, James Edward Johnson, 40, of Hinnant Road, Pikeville, was listed today in good condition at Wayne Memorial Hospital, a spokeswoman said. His passenger, Maria Dixon, 38, of Princeton, was transferred to Pitt County Memorial Hospital in Greenville, where her condition was not immediately available. Johnson was charged with suspicion of driving while impaired and driving left of center. The report said the sport utility vehicle had run off the left side, struck a ditch and a culvert and then overturned. Ms. Dixon's SUV was valued at $2,000.
*Damages were estimated at $5,000 in a two-car, hit-and-run collision at 5:05 p.m. Sunday at Genoa Road and Mobile Circle, the Highway Patrol said. A driver pulling from Mobile Circle did not yield to a northbound auto that was driven by Bobby Lee Barnwell, 48, of Woods Drive, Dudley, the report said. The other car was registered to Carlos Velasquez of Camp Jubilee Road, Seven Springs, the report said.
Drug charges
A 19-year-old Goldsboro man was arrested Wednesday night by Goldsboro police and charged with three felony drug offenses in his home.
Gregory Roy Bradley of West Lockhaven Drive was charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, maintaining a dwelling for the purpose of keeping and selling marijuana and manufacturing marijuana. He was placed in the Wayne County Jail in lieu of a $6,000 secured bond.
Investigations
Wayne County law-enforcement officers are investigating these reports:
*Computer equipment and a satellite television box were stolen between Tuesday and Wednesday from a home in the 800 block of Dobbersville Road, deputies said. The thief had damaged a door and a door glass to get inside. The resident, M.L. Tyndall, estimated the value of the stolen property at $1,200 and damages at $250.
*A .380 handgun, a video camera, about 100 DVDs, a DVD player and an air bed were stolen Wednesday after a door was damaged at an apartment in the 500 block of South Harding Drive, Goldsboro police said. The resident, R.M. Raymond, estimated the value of the stolen property at $1,735. Damage was put at $300.
*A disabled, black 1995 Honda Passport was stolen between Sunday and Wednesday from along N.C. 222 near Union Grove Church Road, deputies said. The owner, Debra F. Marshall of Middlesex, put a $3,600 value on the vehicle.
*A red and white 1971 Chevrolet truck was stolen between August and Wednesday from the 3800 block of Stevens Mill Road, deputies said. The owner and resident, B.B. Grady, said the full-sized truck was worth $800.
Fraud case
A man bought $109.95 worth of property from Sportsman's World at 200 W. Holly St., paid for it with a check and then stopped payment on the check, according to a report filed with Goldsboro police. A Sportsman's World representative then contacted the bank to find out why the payment was stopped, and a bank employee said the bank did not need a reason, the police report said. When the company tried to sue the man for damages in Small Claims Court, the District Attorney's Office said the problem was a criminal, not civil, matter.
Missing
A 12-year-old Goldsboro girl was reported missing Wednesday by relatives to Goldsboro police. Jasmine Shameka Battle of 17181/2 N. William St. was described as black, 5-feet-2 and 85 pounds with black hair in dreadlocks, brown eyes and a medium complexion.
When she was seen last at 11:20 a.m. Wednesday at Goldsboro Middle School, she was wearing a white shirt, black jeans, white athletic shoes and a pink flight jacket. Anyone with information on her whereabouts was asked to call police at 705-6527.
