After several trips to hospitals over the past week, Board of Education member Rick Pridgen said he expects to be released from Wake Medical Center in Raleigh in the next couple of days.

The school board member, who represents District 6, said on Friday afternoon he was doing much better than he had been earlier in the week.

He first went to Wake Med on Monday night, but was treated and released after the symptoms subsided, he said.

On Tuesday morning, he ended up at Wayne Memorial Hospital and was released that evening.

When he returned to Wayne Memorial for a physical therapy appointment Wednesday morning, he said he experienced a blackout spell that required him to be transported back to Raleigh.

Doctors wanted to rule out that his problems were heart-related, he said. On Friday morning, when a catherization was done, he said his "arteries were clear and there were no blockages whatsoever."

After a battery of tests, Pridgen said he expected some changes would be made to medications he is currently taking. He said he was resting comfortably and expected to be released and sent home by Monday or Tuesday.
