Wayne Community College's 2005 nursing graduates exceeded state and national passage rates for first-time licensure exam takers, officials said.
All of the college's 10 practical nursing graduates passed their National Council Licensure Examination on their first attempt. The N.C. pass rate is 93.9 percent. The national pass rate is 89.4 percent.
The 27 members of the WCC associate degree nursing class had a 93 percent pass rate for first time testers on their licensure exam. Cindy Archie, head of WCC's allied health/public services division, said it is interesting to note that only four of the 13 baccalaureate programs posted higher pass rates than Wayne. Two of those, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and East Carolina University, were at 94 percent. The state average for nursing degree programs is 87.2 percent.
