New Spirit Church Ministries, Greenleaf Christian Church and the Religious Affairs Committee of the North Carolina Conference of the NAACP will co-sponsor the Martin Luther King Community Service Wednesday at 7 p.m.
The event, which will be held at New Spirit Ministries on William Street, will feature longtime civil rights activist Dr. Mazie Ferguson.
Dr. William Barber, president of the N.C. Conference of the NAACP, said the event will be an opportunity to honor and reflect on the life of Martin Luther King Jr.
"It is imperative that we not forget that Martin Luther King was a prophetic leader and a Christian preacher and that his message of social transformation was deeply rooted in the gospel tradition," Barber said.
