Wayne Community College honored its maintenance and support employees in a ceremony Dec. 15.
Admissions Coordinator Dianne Allgaier was named the recipient of the college's Support Staff Award.
Staff members who nominated her for the award noted her dedication to her job.
"Her concern for the well-being of students and fellow co-workers extends beyond the boundaries of the campus and into the surrounding community," a supporter said.
Ms. Allgaier, a Goldsboro resident, has worked at Wayne Community College for 17 years. She and her husband, William Allgaier, have two daughters.
Jodie P. "Woody" Woodruff, an auto mechanic at the college since 2000, was named the Operations and Maintenance Staff Member of the Year.
"He performs his duties in a superior manner and is always personable," a nomination form said.
Another said Woodruff "does more than is expected and more than his fair share."
Woodruff, who lives in LaGrange, served in the Air Force as a jet engine mechanic for 26 years before starting work at WCC.
The honorees were selected by a committee from nominations submitted by co-workers. They received plaques and cash awards.
