Red Cross orientation scheduled

The Cape Fear Chapter of the American Red Cross will hold an orientation on Friday, Jan. 27 from 3-4:30 p.m. for people interested in volunteering.
Space is limited, and pre-registration is necessary. Call the Cape Fear Chapter Office of Volunteers at 910-762-2683, ext. 356 to reserve a space.
For information about individual opportunities, call 910-762-2683, ext. 342. The following volunteers are needed.
*Disaster Action Team Volunteers are needed to train in preparation for response to local and national disasters as well as to local emergencies. Daytime, evening and/ or weekend shifts available. Training provided.
*Greeters and canteen workers are needed to serve at mobile blood drives. Volunteers serve at least one 3-hour shift per month.
*Bilingual volunteers are needed to help translate during emergencies, blood collections and during health and safety classes.
*A creative volunteer skilled in desktop publishing is needed to design newsletters and other paperwork.
*Volunteers are needed to assist with bulk mailing, filing, and inventory etc.
*Volunteers are needed to help write grant applications.
*Volunteers needed to assist with various duties for fundraising, special and community outreach events.
*A volunteer with an interest in local history is needed to help organize the chapter's collection of documents.
