Second man charged in bank robbery

MOUNT OLIVE -- A second man has been arrested in connection with Friday's armed robbery at Peoples National Bank on Center Street.
Charles Harvey Faison, of 118 Oak St., Dudley, was arrested Tuesday and charged with one count of robbery with a dangerous weapon, Mount Olice police Chief Emmett Ballree said.
Faison, 33, is currently being held in Wayne County Jail under a $500,000 bond.

The second suspect, Raymond Lemuel Cheadle, allegedly entered the bank at around 3 p.m. Friday, showed a weapon to tellers and emptied two cash drawers. It is not known how much money was taken from the bank.
Police believe that Cheadle then exited the bank, fled south through a back alley and got into a car on James Street before leaving the scene of the crime.
Photos taken of the suspect were given to police and led to the arrest, Ballree said.
The robbery marks the third at the bank location in the last four years. Previous banks operating in the building -- Centura Bank and Triangle Bank -- were also targets of armed robbers.
After the robbery, the FBI was called in to assist local law enforcement with the investigation. Special Agent Doug Rambaud said Friday a $5,000 reward would be offered to individuals who came forward with information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspect.
The $5,000, funded through the robbery reward program, was supplied by the N.C. Bank Association and N.C. Association of Financial Institutions.
Ballree said no one has yet been awarded any money for providing information leading to the arrests, but added that he expects to see some given out soon.
Cheadle, 18, was arrested at Goldsboro High School Sunday afternoon by Mount Olive police.
The investigation was a collaborative effort between Mount Olive Police, the FBI, Goldsboro Police and the Wayne County Sheriffs Department, Ballree said.
