They might not have chubby stomachs, rosy red cheeks or long, white beards, but the employees at Frema Motors are trying hard to play Santa this year.
Until Dec. 15, the dealership will give needy families countywide a shot at $1,000 in holiday Christmas help.
General Manager Frankie Korschun said the people living in Wayne County have been good to the company this year. In fact, she said, since 1963, county residents have been the secret to the dealership's success. Now, she said, it is time to pay back a little.
"Wayne County is so good to us," she said. "We have had a very good year. We really want to give back."
That is why the folks at Frema decided that this year, they would reward a deserving family $1,000 on Dec. 20.
To qualify, all residents have to do is write a letter of 250 words or less, stating why their family is in need.
Mrs. Korschun said store employees will review each letter and pick a winner.
She estimated that more than 20 letters have already been received and are under thoughtful review.
"Every day when you get the mail, there are letters," she said.
To enter, send a letter to Frema Motors Inc., 1112 Sunburst Drive, Goldsboro, N.C. 27534.
