Board to pick chairman, vice chairman

Wayne County Commis-sioners will decide upon a new chairman and vice-chairman during Tuesday's board meeting at 9 a.m. in the Commissioner's meeting room of the Wayne County Courthouse Annex.
J.D. Evans has been chairman and Atlas Price vice chairman the past year.
During Tuesday's meeting, the commissioners also plan to vote on whether to abandon two roads from the state maintenance system. The roads, Windsor Place and Tyndall Drive, are surrounded by county-owned property and do not serve a purpose for the community, said Wayne County Planning Director Connie Price.
Since both roads have had problems with illegal trash dumping, Price said it would be more efficient to close the roads. The process would also allow the state to save funds that would have otherwise been used on the roads.
