MOUNT OLIVE -- The state Highway Patrol is looking for the driver of a vehicle involved in a hit-and-run death Saturday.
Adrian Jones, 83, was killed about 4:40 a.m. on Tram Road when he walked into the roadway, investigators said. Troopers said an unknown vehicle swerved trying to avoid Jones but apparently struck him with its right front fender.
Anyone with information about the accident is asked to call the Highway Patrol station in Kenansville at 910-296-1311.
"Nothing is too small or too large," Sgt. Randy King said. "You never know. You may passed a vehicle about that time on Tram Road with a broken headlight. Somebody may have thought they struck a deer."
