Paige S. Bazemore of Goldsboro, a senior at Barton College, was awarded the John and Betsy Graves Scholarship and was also named a North Carolina Nurse Scholar recipient this fall semester.
The John and Betsy Graves Nursing Scholarship is a $1,000 scholarship awarded annually to a student pursuing a degree in nursing at Barton College. The scholarship is funded from an endowment established by Mr. and Mrs. Graves. The scholarship is renewable contingent upon maintenance of 3.00 grade point average. The recipient is selected by the School of Nursing.
Ms. Bazemore is the daughter of Tadao and Brenda Bazemore of Goldsboro.
William Sawyer, son of Reverend William Sawyer and Bess Edwards Sawyer of Goldsboro, has enrolled as a graduate student at Westminster Choir College of Rider University in Princeton, N.J. During his course of study at the Choir College, he will be a member of the Westminster Symphonic Choir, which will perform with major orchestras such as the New York Philharmonic Orchestra and the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra. He is a 2004 graduate of the North Carolina School of the Arts.
Chelsey Marie Willoughby served as a Governor's Page during the week of Sept. 19-21. It was the second time Miss Willoughby has been selected for the honor. She is the daughter of Kim and Ann Willoughby of Rosewood and granddaughter of Grace Edwards and Margaret Willoughby of Micro. She is a senior at Rosewood High School where she is parliamentarian for the NHS and the FTA and is historian for the FCA. She serves on the Goldsboro Mayor's Youth Council and is an active member of Whitley Church in Princeton. She plans to attend North Carolina State University and become and guidance counselor.
