A 19-year-old day care worker was arrested Monday by the Wayne County Sheriff's Office and charged with sexually assaulting a 4-year-old girl.
DeMarlo Jemalle Armstrong, whose mother owns the day care center where the alleged assault occurred, was charged with a first-degree sexual offense and taking indecent liberties with a child. He was released from the Wayne County Jail under $100,000 secured bond.
Armstrong worked for Sunshine Day Care Center at 800 Lynch Drive near Goldsboro. The business's license was suspended by state authorities.
Sheriff Carey Winders and investigators Tammy Odom and Thomas Flores urged parents with children at the day care center to call them with any concerns they might have.
