Live updates planned for flu clinic

The Health Department plans to give "real time" updates throughout Satur-day's mass flu vaccination clinic at Goldsboro Middle School.
The clinic, from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m., is more than an opportunity to provide protection against the flu virus. It is also a chance for the Health Department to put into practice its readiness skills in the event of a bioterrorism event.
James Roosen, health director, said several local radio stations have been contacted to provide updates throughout Saturday's event as to traffic, availability of the vaccine and other information about the clinic.
"This will be a test of our ability to communicate with the public, something that will come in handy during an emergency situation," Roosen said.
Ten stations will be set up in the school's gym to administer the vaccines, and the Health Department has recommended reporting times be assigned alphabetically. Goldsboro police and the Sheriff's Office will also assist with traffic control.
Roosen gave the following times for patrons to come, according to the first letter of the person's last name: A-D from 8-10 a.m., E-J from 10 a.m. until noon, K-P from noon until 2:30 p.m., and everyone else from 2:30 p.m. on.
"We're trying to make sure that things are not hectic and people don't have to wait," he said.
