2 women robbed
Two women were robbed Saturday in a driveway in the 100 block of Orbit Road by three people, according to a Wayne County Sheriff's Office report.
The resident, Tammy L. Thomas, told deputies that the suspects grabbed her and Jaleesa Chanel Jackson around their necks at about 4:20 p.m. and stole Ms. Thomas' picture phone, a gold necklace, a charm and her keys.
The necklace, valued at $1,100, was recovered in the yard. The other property was valued at $350.
One male suspect was described as black, 5-feet-5 and 200 pounds with a stocky build and short black hair. He wore a black shirt and black jeans. The second suspect was described as a black woman, 6-feet-2 and 155 pounds with black hair in corn rows, and she wore a blue jacket and blue bandanna. The third suspect could not be described. They fled in a burgundy car.
Man assaulted
A 59-year-old Goldsboro man was assaulted Friday by another man in the 900 block of Hugh Street in a dispute over car payments, Goldsboro police reported.
Simon Kennon of Hugh Street was taken to Wayne Memorial Hospital, where he was treated and released, a spokeswoman said.
Kennon told officers that he had sold a car to the other man and the suspect had made one payment and then refused to pay more. Kennon had the car towed, the report said. The two men argued and Kennon asked for the key. Then the suspect punched Kennon in the face and fled, the report said.
The suspect was described as black, about 30 years old, 6-feet-1 and 180 pounds with short black hair in corn rows and brown eyes. He wore a brown shirt and blue jeans.
3 hurt in wrecks
Three people were injured and damages were estimated at $51,950 in seven recent traffic collisions in Wayne County, officers reported.
*A man on a moped was injured in a collision with a pickup truck at 2:47 p.m. Sunday at North William Street and Stronach Avenue, Goldsboro police said. William Charles McAllister Jr., 43, of North Carolina Street was taken to Wayne Memorial Hospital, then stabilized and transferred to Pitt County Memorial Hospital in Greenville, where his condition was not immediately available. He also was charged with suspicion of driving while impaired and a stoplight violation. The report said McAllister was leaving a parking lot at the corner and crossed North William Street, where his moped collided with the northbound pickup. The other motorist. Thad Artis Jr., 53, of Big Daddy's Road, Pikeville, was not charged. Damages were set at $800.
*A Goldsboro driver was injured and her car was demolished in a wreck at 11:01 a.m. Friday on East Walnut Street near Herman Street, police said. Beatrice B. Williams, 72, of Evergreen Avenue was treated and released from Wayne Memorial Hospital. The report said her car ran off the right side and struck a power pole. She was charged with failure to reduce speed. The car was valued at $5,000. Damage to the pole was set at $3,000.
*Damages were estimated at $5,000 in a two-car collision at 2:45 p.m. Friday on West Ash Street near North James Street, police said. One driver, Gina Lee Hill, 26, of Parkstown Road, LaGrange, was charged with failure to reduce speed after the rear-end collision. The other eastbound motorist was listed as Ashley Katherine Hanson, 20, of East College Street, Mount Olive.
*Damages were estimated at $5,650 in a two-vehicle crash at 6:08 a.m. Friday on U.S. 13 near Hood Swamp Road, the Highway Patrol said. A southbound driver, Andre Tondreau, 24, of Wayne Memorial Drive, was charged with driving left of center. His sport utility vehicle, the report said, crossed the center line, sideswiped a northbound SUV and overturned into a highway sign. The other driver was identified as Ricardo Gonzalez Guzman, 31, of William King Road, Newton Grove.
*A driver was injured in a one-car wreck at 12:02 a.m. Thursday on N.C. 111 near Ditchbank Road, the Highway Patrol said. Guadalupe Bracamontes, 33, of Albertson was released after emergency-room treatment. The car ran off the right side out of control, then careened off the left side and overturned. The car, valued at $3,500, was destroyed.
*A driver said he fell asleep at 12:09 p.m. Thursday and the pickup truck that he was driving ran off the right side of N.C. 111 near Rifle Range Road and struck a ditch and a driveway culvert, the Highway Patrol said. William Douglas Lambert, 43, of Beulaville was neither injured nor charged. Damage was fixed at $10,000 to the Maxwell Foods truck.
*Both vehicles were demolished and both drivers were charged after a collision at 11 a.m. Thursday on O'Berry Road near Thigpen Dairy Road, the Highway Patrol said. Jamie Asa Byrd, 27, of N.C. 55 West, Mount Olive, was charged with failure to reduce speed after the rear-end collision. Norman Keith Sites, 19, of Beaver Drive, Dudley, was charged with a safe-movement violation. Sites told troopers that he stopped quickly because a dog ran across the road. The vehicles were valued at $24,000.
Thefts
Wayne County sheriff's deputies are investigating these reports:
*About $5,035 worth of property was stolen Sunday after a door was forced open at a home in the 700 block of Shady Grove Road, sheriff's deputies said. The resident, Charles Ray Witherington, reported the theft of two rifles, a shotgun, two handguns, tools, two televisions, a DVD player, a DVD-VCR, jewelry, three stereo speakers and four fire department badges.
*Medicines and tools were stolen Sunday after two doors were broken at a home in the 100 block of Baker's Chapel Church Road, deputies said. The resident, Glynn Richard Mozingo, estimated the value of the stolen property at $850 and damages at $250.
*About $700 worth of candy was stolen between Saturday and Sunday from a concession stand at Spring Creek High School, deputies said. The thieves also damaged two doors, a microwave and an outdoor speaker. Damages were set at $300.
*About $1,000 and a gold chain were stolen Friday from a home in the 400 block of True Vine Road, deputies said. The resident, Teresa Ann Vining, put a $900 value on the chain. No sign of forced entry was listed.
*A purple and white Yamaha dirt bike was stolen between Friday and Sunday from a shed in the 300 block of Club Knolls Road, deputies said. The resident, Sherwood Wayne Ezzell, said the bike was worth $800.
Investigations
Goldsboro police are investigating these reports:
*Two walls of an apartment in the 400 block of North Carolina Street were damaged early Sunday by gunfire, police said. The resident, Geraldine Coley, said she heard 15 to 20 shots. Police said evidence of two shots was found. Damages were set at $500.
*A pool cue, a coat, a compact disc player and a wallet were stolen between Saturday and Sunday after a vehicle window was smashed in a parking lot in the 2200 block of East Ash Street, police said. The owner, Gregory Hall of Pikeville, estimated the stolen property's value at $330 and damage at $80. A comforter also was stolen Sunday after a car window was broken in the same parking lot, police said. The owner, Mary S. Bailey, said the item was valued at $50 and estimated damage at $150.
*A radio was stolen Saturday after a truck window was shattered in a parking lot in the 2200 block of East Ash Street, police said. The owner, Juan Bautista Sanchez of Goldsboro, put a $150 value on the radio and set damage at $300.
Fugitive arrested
A man wanted by Texas authorities on drug charges was arrested Friday by the Goldsboro-Wayne County Drug Squad and federal marshals near his home on Zion Church Road. Mauro Guerra was taken into federal custody in Raleigh.
