MOC singers

MOUNT OLIVE -- Ten students have been chosen for this year's Mount Olive College Singers, a song and dance troupe that will perform throughout the year for a variety of audience.
Dr. Larry Oldham, professor of music at the college, directs the group, which consists of four men, six women and a sound technician. The singers perform at public events, festivals, civic clubs, church dinners and high schools. They have showcased their talents at the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade in New York City, the 50th Presidential Inauguration in Washington, D.C., the 75th Boy Scout Jamboree and Disney World in Orlando, Florida.
The group began rehearsals over the summer even before school began. This fall, in addition to programs on campus, they will present concerts for various organizations and at churches throughout eastern North Carolina, as well as doing recruitment shows in high schools across parts of North Carolina and Virginia.
Their musical program features Broadway hits, patriotic songs and popular music.
Members of the troupe include Marshal Carter of Duplin County, Bryan Caroon of Pamlico County, Lauren Cooke of Lenior County, Rhonda Houston of Deep Run, Tony Dowdy of Newport, Anthony Thorne of Wilson County, Ashley Mullis of Alamance County, Anna Russell of Poquoson, Brandi Holloman of Mount Olive, and Ashley Hartley of Mount Olive.
