Band directors in area middle and high schools say they could use more instruments for students.
Dr. Sandra McCullen, associate superintendent for instruction in Wayne County Public Schools, said the school system tries to provide some of the larger instruments but always welcomes contributions from the community.
"We always have students that need band instruments," she said. "Band directors have said there's a need for it and we certainly appreciate anything the public can help us out with."
Among the instruments needed are baritone, tuba, saxophone, French horn, piccolo, flute, clarinet, oboe, euphonium, mellowphone, trombone, even electric guitar. Sometimes piano and percussion instruments, too, Dr. McCullen said.
Anyone with an instrument to donate is asked to contact the school or band department directly or Dr. McCullen at 731-5900.
