Drivers who travel along U.S. 117 might find a few additional delays in the coming week as work continues on the highway project there, North Carolina Department of Transportation officials announced Saturday.
Beginning this weekend and continuing through Wednesday, railroad contractors will be completing construction of the double track crossing located on the U.S. 117/U.S.13 bypass between Elm Street and N.C. 581.
NCDOT officials are warning drivers to expect periodic delays of about 15 minutes.
On Monday, officials also said, the northbound lane of the bypass will be closed between Elm Street and N.C. 581.
The detour route, which will be marked, will consist of George and Grantham streets.
